Avital’s Interactive Meal: Best Overall

Our San Francisco Interactive Meal is the best, most unique private dining experience in San Francisco. We team up with the best restaurants in San Francisco to deliver a unique meal where you enjoy a beautiful four-course menu along with three beverages (either alcoholic or N/A alternatives).

In between courses, there are three hosted, interactive activities. For the first activity, we’ll have your group shake up some cocktails. For the second, you can choose between SF Foodie Trivia or a Smell Like a Somm lesson. And last—but certainly not least—we always end the experience with a flavor finale featuring buzz button lollipops and flavor tripping!

E&O Kitchen and Bar: Best for Team Building Events

E&O Kitchen and Bar takes you on a journey through the bold and vibrant flavors of Southeast Asia. We love how creative the Asian fusion dishes are, with menu highlights including the chicken satay with red miso peanut sauce and brown butter miso mochi cake. Most reviews about the private room centered around the reviewers experience at a company event there, so it’s clear that this is a popular private room for team building events. Reviewers enjoyed the flexibility of being able to eat family style or have courses come plated. Some mentioned that depending on the space you book and party size you may also have a dedicated bar tender as well.

Intimate private room at Ernest in SF

Ernest: Best Value

Ernest is a market-driven Californian restaurant with a menu full of fun global flavors. This is one of Avital’s personal favorite restaurants which is amongst the many reasons we recommend it so highly! Although this is one of the more expensive restaurants on this list we gave it the best value accolade because reviewers consistently reported that portion sizes were super generous. They felt the money they spent on the prix fixe menu was representative of the level of service, depth of flavor, and satiety at the end of the meal. If you have the budget to book the Ernest private room, by all reports you won’t be leaving hungry!

Methodology for Evaluating Best Private Dining in San Francisco

We started by making a list of 30 private dining rooms in San Francisco we had either worked with or found by searching for private dining recommendations online. Then we started to read each restaurant’s private dining reviews extensively on Google, Yelp, and Tripadvisor, to see what people had to say about their experience hosting a private dining event there. We then narrowed the list down to the top 8  private dining restaurants most consistently receiving positive reviews and praise across all rating platforms.

Then we deeply evaluated those top 8 private dining rooms based on guest reviews, personal experience, and important factors to bookers (ability to accommodate dietary restrictions, private dining menu, pricing per person, etc). This is the data we’ll be reporting on in this list.

The two limitations to this analysis are, one, that positive vs. negative sentiment is ultimately subjective, and two, that there are only between 10-40 reviews per restaurant that were specifically about a private dining experience. A bigger sample size would have been a great asset but we feel confident there was enough user information on each restaurant’s private dining experience to make evidence-based recommendations worth reporting on.
