How to Host Your Own Potato Chip Tasting

June 26, 2025

I never imagined eating 32 salty snacks in one sitting. But chip happens.

This month in the Find Your Fave Club, we tasted our way through a wildly flavorful lineup of potato chip varieties. With the help of my brave in-laws (yes, the same ones who powered through the sardine tasting), my husband Randy, and our curious chip connoisseur son Curio, we broke open the 32 colorful, crinkly bags, and got to tasting.

My Potato Chip Tasting

Like always in a Find Your Fave Club tasting, we separated the flavors into different categories. Without this step, it becomes a bit overwhelming and hard to remember one flavor from the next. For this tasting, we ended up with 7 different categories:

  • 🧂 Sea Salt
  • 💦 Salt & Vinegar
  • 〰️ Wavy
  • 🧅 Onion
  • 🔥 BBQ
  • 🌶️ Jalapeño
  • 🤪 Crazy Flavors

Then the crunchy, salty, savory tasting began!

We did our tasting with water to keep our palates clear (and our toddler hydrated), but you could easily turn this into a whole vibe:

🍺 Pair with a drink – Try a crisp Pilsner or Kolsch to balance out the salt and vinegar tang and spicy jalapeño heat. Or go non-alcoholic with a chilled citrus seltzer or kombucha to keep things bubbly and bright.

💁‍♀️ Feeling fancy? Create a build-your-own blini bar with crème fraîche and caviar to serve alongside the chips. It’s salty, indulgent, and absurd in the best way possible.

After we crunched our way through all 32 bags, we chose our favorites in each category. Watch the video to see our favorites (spoiler alert: pickle & cheese did not make the podium!)
