10 Unique Dining Experiences in Boston

1. Avita’s Interactive Meal
Kick your group dining experience up a notch when you book our Boston Interactive Meal! We partner with your choice of one of the city’s finest restaurants, curate a four-course menu (with premium beverage pairings), and pepper in three interactive experiences over the course of the event. All activities fit under the theme “Play With Your Food.” Guests will shake up a signature cocktail, then there’s another foodie activity of your choice, and we always end the night with our signature flavor finale experience that’s designed to shift your perspective.

2. Asta
Asta is a New American restaurant with only one option for how you order. You eat the signature tasting menu that changes, in the words of the Michelin guide, “on a whim, often in the same week, and at times [is] more conceptual than coherent.” Nevertheless, this experience is highly recommended by adventurous eaters, true foodies, and the Michelin Guide!

3. Union Oyster House
It’s hotly debated whether Union Oyster House is an incredible piece of Boston history still serving up great seafood or a tourist trap kept afloat by history nerds with less decisive palates. Either way, it earns a spot on our list because it is the oldest restaurant in continuous service in the US. The walls are decked in photos of the myriad celebrities and politicians who have stopped in, and if you’re lucky, you could snag a seat at JFK’s favorite booth! We recommend grabbing a dozen oysters, a beer, taking in the history, and avoiding the gift shop.

4. Yume Wo Katare
People come to Yume Wo Katare to eat delicious ramen and share their dreams. Let’s start with the ramen: you choose between the Special Pork or Vegetarian ramen. The noodles are thick and plush, the broth is fatty and rich, and garlic and bean sprouts are generously piled on top. When you finish eating, you are encouraged to share your dreams and aspirations with your fellow diners and cheer each other on. It’s a dining experience that will warm you inside and out!

5. Dinner Cruise on the Odyssey
City Experiences offers a dinner cruise that combines spectacular views of the Boston Harbor with great food and generous libations. A change of scenery can be all that’s needed to elevate the experience of eating and drinking with friends, family, or coworkers. You’ll cruise around the harbor for a few hours, eat good food together, and the DJ and cash bar are there to ensure the night will be a party.

6. Mooncusser
Mooncusser is another restaurant that made our list due to the uniqueness of its tasting menu concept. The dishes vary immensely in inspiration, the Michelin guide noting that “no one cuisine calls this global kitchen, and inspiration can swing from the Mediterranean to Asia with seafood as a regular feature.” But the flavors are always sensational, and Chef Carl Dooley keeps customers coming back by changing it up frequently.

7. Kura Revolving Sushi Bar
Kura Revolving Sushi Bar is a fun and interactive dining experience in Watertown (just 9 miles from Boston) where you choose your dishes off a conveyor belt that wraps around the restaurant. They have a menu of over 50 sushi rolls, hand rolls, nigiri, and sashimi, not even counting the delicious sides or made-to-order ramen and udon soups on offer.

8. Loretta’s Last Call
People go to Loretta’s Last Call for the delicious Southern BBQ and end up staying for the Line Dancing. They bill themselves as “Boston’s ONLY country venue”, and whether or not that’s true, it is undeniable they have gone all out with the theming. A live country band plays nightly, line dance lessons happen on the dance floor, and authentic Southern barbecue is served alongside cocktails like “Granny’s Porch Punch”.

9. Yvonne’s
Yvonne’s takes the supper club model and elevates it into a fine dining experience. All the food is meant to be shared, and they successfully create an atmosphere that makes you feel like you’re in a friend’s cozy, chic apartment, enjoying a home-cooked meal. They have maintained a lot of the architecture from Lock-Ober, a high-profile restaurant from the 1860s that once stood where Yvonne’s is today. Much like that famed speakeasy, Yvonne’s has an essence of “paramount secrecy and tacit discretion, while bringing a renewed energy and rebel spirit to one of the city’s treasures.”

10. Murder Mystery Dinner
Sometimes a little intrigue can be all that’s needed to elevate your dining experience. Get in on the drama when you go see the Dinner Detective! This experience is one part interactive murder mystery and one part delicious dinner. While you enjoy a four-course meal, the mystery will start to unfold around you. Make sure to keep your wits about you, because you might just become a prime suspect!
