Ice Cream Bar’s San Francisco One Day Itinerary
The Ice Cream Bar is a 1930s recreation of a soda fountain located in San Francisco’s Haight Ashbury Neighborhood featuring award winning ice cream, 75 tinctures, frappes, floats and boozy milkshakes. Chef Owner Juliet Pries shares her San Francisco One Day Itinerary.
Juliet’s San Francisco One Day Itinerary
Juliet recommends starting out with a Cherry corn scone for breakfast at the worker-owned cooperative Arizmendi Bakery at either the Mission District location at 1268 Valencia Street or in at the Inner Sunset location at 1331 9th Avenue. This breakfast deliciousness is full of butter, sugar, tart cherries, and has the perfect amount of salt!
Then take a 2 mile walk (or a 15-20 minute bus ride – either the 44 bus from 9th and Irving to Woodside Ave & Portola Drive from the Inner Sunset location or the 48 bus from 24th and Valencia to Woodside Ave & Portola Drive) to the top of Twin Peaks. It’s a perfect view of the entire city if it’s sunny, and it’s also quite an SF experience if it’s foggy – a truly breathtaking moment.
Since you’ve worked up an appetite, hop in a taxi or an Uber (use code AvitalTours for your first ride free up to $20) for lunch at Charles Phan’s The Slanted Door located at the Ferry Building on the Embarcadero. You’re here for the cellophane crab noodles, and well, also because of the view. Be sure to grab an outdoor table! And also because its in the Ferry Building, be sure to walk around and enjoy the marketplace and Farmer’s Market, a showcase for Bay Area artisanal foods.
After lunch, Juliet says you can’t miss the Golden Gate Bridge. Walk or drive across the Golden Gate Bridge, the most photographed bridge in the world.
After walking the 1.7 mile span its time for dinner at Frances located at 3870 17th Street in the Castro, a cozy neighborhood restaurant gem with an amazing Californian cuisine and seasonal-driven menu. Frances has been nominated for a James Beard Award and previously had one Michelin star.
Then head to sip artisan cocktails at Alembic, for a very San Francisco cocktail experience and a nightcap. Its around the corner from The Ice Cream Bar and a great place to hang out with friends!
