Tacolicious Restaurant Review by Culinary Guide Keila Morris

As a SoCal girl, I’m a die hard Mexican food snob so my taco prayers were answered in the Mission District at Tacolicious.

The Place: Inspired by the top restaurants in Mexico city, Tacolicious has mastered the taco and a sinfully tasty menu of margaritas to pair them with.

The Dishes: I highly recommend starting off with the albacore tuna tostadas “contramar-style”. This light appetizer utilizes a wonderful flavor combination of fresh tuna and chipotle mayo. It was hard to stop myself from  wolfing down the shot-and-a-beer  braised chicken taco, which has the robust flavors of Jimador Blanco Tequila and a Texan beer. A pinch of habanero peppers in the braising sauce gives it the spicy kick traditional Mexican cooking calls for. The next best taco on the menu is the baja-style pacific cod. The gorgeous golden yellow lightly battered cod looked taco-ridiculous! Based on how fast my tour guests finish them, I’d say they are phenomenal.

Little Known Facts: Tacolicious has four locations, each touting a unique flair. The mission location pays homage to Lalo, their lime squeezer extraordinaire, with a vintage juicer collection. You can also find the little bites of yum at the Marina, Palo Alto, and North Beach spots.
