Padrecito Restaurant Review by Culinary Guide Corinne Sykes

Padrecito is a gem tucked away in San Francisco’s micro-neighborhood Cole Valley.  With their seasonal menu of traditional Mexican foods and their agave-centric cocktail program, Padrecito is a great reason to visit this quiet corner.

The Place:  Padrecito features a lovely and robust outdoor seating area, as well as ample indoor seating on two levels.  The atmosphere is warm and inviting, despite being so large.  Sitting outside makes it easy to enjoy the surroundings, including the lovely Victorians that pepper the neighborhood.

The Cocktails:    The La Copa Verde cocktail was a fantastic start to the meal.  It features a mezcal base, with cilantro, lime, and chipotle powder seasonings.  The beautiful green juxtaposed with the bright red chipotle powder made for an artful, as well as delicious, cocktail.

The Dishes: The Quesadilla Entemporada was a great way to start the meal. On the outside a basic-looking quesadilla, but on the inside – summer squash and squash blossoms, sweet corn, torpedo onions, jack cheese and salsa – made for a delightfully seasonal filling.  The crispy chicken tacos were a great end with light and crispy breaded white meat chicken, loaded up with plenty of pico de gallo in a house-made tortilla shell.

Little Known Fact:    Padrecito sources many of its local, seasonal ingredients from their sister farm Oak Hill in Sonoma.

Insider Secret:   Great spot for brunch, and some extra brunch cocktail offerings. Check out the Buenos Dias (bourbon/coffee, cacao, cynar, egg white) in place of your morning latte!
